I've created a lengthy, but in depth tutorial which uses the Gimp in conjunction with Blender. I tried to do more than simply tell the reader what to do. One could find similar tutorials elsewhere, but the ones I've found are not specific to Blender, and don't really tell you WHY what's done is done.

So here's what you can do here:
